The Angels have a pitching void to fill. This now means that the Angels are "among the favorites" to acquire the Lowe from the Braves, according to an update in Ken Rosenthal and Jon Paul Morosi's blockbuster deal story.

The Halos could offer outfielder Juan Rivera, who the FOX Sports duo says is the type of right-handed run producer Atlanta is seeking.

He has been looking more like Bill Stoneman, not Tony Reagins as of late...

I don't see the sense in this trade at all. I personally felt Rivera was one of our best hitters of the season. He's an average fielder but has a decent arm. I believe he was 2nd in Angel home runs, only behind Morales. Simply put, I feel like Rivera has much more trade value than Derek Lowe does and an straight-up trade between the two seems like a bad deal on our part.

I know we have a pitching void to fill in, but trading our hitters for it isn't the way to go.

Rivera definitely has more value than Lowe does.... and if Reagins does this, itd be an incredbly stupid move. We would be giving away our 2nd best hitter (arguably), for a pitcher who is passed his prime, and old.

I like the idea of trading Rivera, especially for a pitcher, because that likely means we are trying to grab Bay. But for Derek Lowe? Get a true ace! Or close to a true ace!

I have an amazing proposition, an idea so ground-breaking and original, Reagins couldn't possibly think of it.

Knowing our situation now, if Reagins and the Angels plan on signing Bay, how about we sign him first AND THEN trade Rivera for an average pitcher? That way, fans will be able to overlook the idiocy of the Rivera-Lowe trade because we have Bay.

Now, what Reagins is going to do is trade Rivera for Lowe AND THEN try to sign Jason Bay. So when we get the news that Bay signs elsewhere, we lose one of our best hitters for an average pitcher. That's ok though, we can just insert Gary Matthews Jr. in the outfield to fill in the void.
