The white flag for this season has risen, unfortunately, for the Halos.

The Angels Friday announced a trade sending LHP Brian Fuentes to the Minnesota Twins in exchange for a player to be named later. Fuentes was claimed off waivers earlier in the day and the two teams came to terms on an agreement late this afternoon. Today's transaction was announced by Angels' general manager Tony Reagins.

Fuentes, 35, went 5-6 with 71 saves and a 3.76 ERA (93.1 IP - 39 ER) in 104 appearances with the Angels from 2009-2010. The four-time All-Star leads the American League with 71 saves over the last two seasons. This season, Fuentes has posted a 4-1 record with 23 saves and a 3.52 ERA (38.1 IP - 15 ER) in 39 appearances, marking the sixth consecutive season he has notched 20 saves or more.

A native of Merced, Calif., Fuentes was selected by the Seattle Mariners in the 25th round of the 1995 amateur draft. He was traded to the Colorado Rockies where he spent seven seasons before signing with the Angels as a free agent on Dec. 31, 2008. In his career, Fuentes has posted a 22- 33 record with 186 saves and a 3.48 ERA (515.1 IP - 199 ER) in 542 relief appearances.
