Although they always give the Angels a good fight, they went 75-86.
1. Batting
Guess which team ranked last in .BAA? The Oakland Athletics. That alone already shows a problem, but they were weak in all batting categories. Hitting, home runs, RBI, they ranked 25th or below in those. However, it looks like they have already looked into this problem and traded for a quality bat in Matt Holliday. He won't solve all their problems, but he gives them something to hope for. Maybe the return of Eric Chavez can add some extra spark, I don't know. They will also have to decide what they want to do with the DH Frank Thomas and RF Emil Brown. Kudos to them for developing what looks to be a nice catcher in Kurt Suzuki.
2. Pitching
They had a solid rotation, but gave a lot of it up by trading SP Rich Harden and RP Huston Street. Keith Foulke and Alan Embree are relief pitchers and in free agency, so decisions will have to be made on that.
