Playing DH must give Garret Anderson a lot of free time.
After the benches-clearing incident in Monday’s game, FSN’s cameras caught Garret Anderson on the phone in the Angels’ dugout.
There are two phones in each dugout �" one for the bullpen, one for the press box (to check on lineup changes, substitutions, injuries, etc. during games). If it’s the phone from the press box one of the coaches or trainers will usually pick up the receiver and answer the question. But this time, everyone was still buzzing over the ’shove-fest’ between Torii Hunter and Ivan Rodriguez. Apparently, the phone kept ringing.
“There was no one there (to answer),” said Anderson who finally decided to pick up the receiver.
“Garret turns around and says, “Hey, Mike �" it’s for you,’” Scioscia said. “I’m like, ‘Who the heck is calling me?’”
It was Angels media relations manager Larry Babcock calling from the press box to find out which players and/or coaches had been ejected.
